Visiting Serra San Bruno Monastery and tasting typical mushrooms (edible boletus)

 

Serra S. Bruno, located in the centre of the mountain forests of Calabria, is one of the most renowned Spiritual area both at local and interregional level. Its Carthusian monastery was built on a land donated by the Count Ruggero the Norman and represents now the main touristic attraction. It rises up in an area out from the village, a place of particular mystic, and religious interest, destination of pilgrimage and prayer. The downtown is rich in Palaces, Churches, paintings by Matteis and Solano, low reliefs by Muller and local crafts works. Don't forget to visit the Sanctuary of S. Maria del Bosco, the Church of San Biagio and the Church "dell'Addolorata". Moreover this area has particular cookery importance because of the porcini mushrooms production and merchandising.
